2004 GUINNESS CHRISTMAS RACING FESTIVAL AT LIMERICK

The 2004 Guinness Christmas Racing Festival is scheduled to take place at Greenmount Park from December 26th to December 29th.

The traditional four day Limerick fixture boasts a seven-race National Hunt card each day beginning at 12.40pm, with over €500,000 in prize money on offer.

The feature race on St. Stephens day is the €50,000 Guinness Greenmount Park Chase won in impressive style in 2003 by the Michael Hourigan trained Grade 1 winner Hi Cloy. Day two features the Tim Duggan Memorial Chase and the Guinness Christmas Hurdle.

Ladbrokes Ireland are the main sponsor of day three of the festival, supporting the feature race The Ladbrokes.com Doran's Pride Novice Hurdle worth €40,000. Already established with their on course SP shop at Greenmount, additional betting facilities within hospitality areas for the four days will be made available to punters. Joe Lewins MD of Ladbrokes Ireland said "We are delighted to continue to support one of our top racing facilities with the Sponsorship commitment to The Dorans Pride Hurdle, and look forward to building on the quality of the race over the next three years."

The leading trainer award is provided courtesy of Russell's Bar in Dooradoyle, won in 2003 by Michael Hourigan, whilst The Dark Horse Pub in Patrickswell are giving a magnum of champagne to the leading Jockey. A new award for 2004 is kindly sponsored by the Unicorn Pub and Restaurant, who will be giving a voucher of €500 to the leading stable at the festival.

Buses will run each day from Colbert station operated by Bus Eireann. A free bus service will also run each day after racing direct to Russell's bar in Dooradoyle. Gates open at 10.30 each day.

Ken O'Dea, Regional director of Diageo said "This is our third year supporting Limerick at their busiest racing fixture, and highlights the prestige of the city as the capital of sport in the mid-west"

Hospitality packages, four day passes, and group bookings are available from the Racecourse or on line .
